In my collage I have a task from lecturer about Urban Analysis, what is Urban? An urban area is a human settlement with high population density and infrastructure of built environment. Urban areas are created through urbanization and are categorized by urban morphology as cities, towns, conurbations or suburbs. In urbanism, the term contrasts to rural areas such as villages and hamlets and in urban sociology or urban anthropology it contrasts with natural environment. Actually at Medan City we had problem with the pedestrian or space for walking, the proble is minimum facility of pedestrian so the pedestrians use the roadside to walking but the roadside has been used by motorcyclists to parking on it. So it will hinders others. that was the 1st problem and 2nd is the street vendors who place on it so it will hinders others too. Furniture like city lamp, vase, and the pavement is unmaintained. I think this city can fix their problem literally, build an pedestrian, give the vegetation and street furniture like chair, city lamp it will attract people to walking and didn't use vehicle to decrease congestion.

Form and Mass Building

Colonial architecture style is domination here, but the building didn't unmaintained well, many building who had historical value being renovated to be a modern building who use many glass. Average building is use for commercial and average had 2 to 4 floor. The building mass is linier and the form average is square but from a building to another building is unsymmetrical. this area had historical value especially from the building style I hope this area can protected these historical value by conserve the building style.  

The conclusion is every urban design had problems but the real problem is how to fix that?.
